My Favorite Romance Movies

Uncategorized

I love getting lost in a good romance. Here are some quick recommendations to get your started on your own binge!

Romance movies are traditionally seen as a girly thing. In my house, though, they were a pleasure that I shared with my father. He is a *sucker* for a good love story and we spent many a night binging the best movies from the 80s and 90s. Sorry for ratting you out, Dad. Looove you.

Today, I’m still a major fan of the feel-good romance. I want a movie where I can laugh, smile, and maybe even cry, all in the name of true love. But what are my favorite romance movies? Here’s a quick list!

When Harry Met Sally. This is my undisputed favorite! Dad talked about this movie all the time when I was growing up and when I was finally old enough to watch it (thanks a lot, famous orgasm scene), I fell in love with it so fast. If you love a good friends turned lovers story, you have to watch this classic.

Something’s Gotta Give. I had a really hard time choosing between two Jack Nicholson masterpieces to put on this list. As Good As It Gets is a very close second. But there’s just something about this little movie that keeps me returning again and again. . . If you crave a unique love story that’s just as funny as it is sweet and sexy, then you have got to watch this one!

Pride and Prejudice. Yeah, yeah: I’m that person that loves the Keira Knightley/Matthew Macfadyen version of this Jane Austen classic. It’s just so freakin’ dreamy. The love story, the gorgeous music, the lush visuals. . . it’s all so perfect.

The Holiday. Every Christmas, this movie is my go-to romance. It’s surprisingly heartfelt and genuine and gets bonus points for putting a unique spin on the classic holiday love story. I will watch this movie every year until I die!

Call Me By Your Name. This movie did things to me, y’all. I don’t think I’ve ever ugly-cried so hard during a film (don’t worry, no spoilers). If you’re in the mood for either coming-of-age drama or LGBTQ+ romance, then this is a great movie to watch. I recommend it to everyone who will listen.

So what are your favorite romance movies? Also, do you love or hate any of the films on my list? I’m dying to know. If you liked this list, be sure to check out my recent list of 5 great romance TV shows that you can watch right now.
