Best Romance Shows to Watch NOW

Uncategorized

Need a new romance recommendation? I’ve got you covered.

I’ve been on a kick lately. With Netflix and other streaming services releasing so many delightful romances lately, there has been a *lot* for me to binge. My writing may or may not be currently suffering because I have a few episodes of Firefly Lane to catch up on. . .

So what should you be watching this year? Here’s my handy dandy list of five fun romance TV shows to check out right now. A list of movies will be following soon!

  • Virgin River. Ugh! Sooo dreamy. This romantic drama centers on Mel, a nurse who moves to a small town in Northern California in search of a fresh start. This is a must watch if you like small town romance or romance featuring a more mature lead (because let’s get real, the swooning 20-year-olds can get pretty tiring). Bonus: this show is based on a book series! Catch it on Netflix today.

  • Hart of Dixie. This show is a total guilty pleasure for me. It has all the things I love in a romance: a small southern town, a love triangle, and a heroine with sass for days. The show follows a New York doctor who is forced to transplant to Alabama when she finds herself in need of a new job. You can watch all the seasons on Netflix right now.
  • Outlander. If you haven’t started Outlander yet, what are you even doing with your life?! Go watch this show about a time-traveling nurse RIGHT NOW. It is smart, steamy, and full of rich historical detail. Watch on Starz or check out the incredible book series on which the show is based. It is also streaming on Netflix! Yay!
  • Bridgerton. I’m going to be honest: I expected to hate this new Netflix series. I love Victorian romance, but the idea of so much soapy drama, the contemporary background music, the outrageous costuming. . . it was all a little much for me. I am sooo glad I was wrong. Watch it on Netflix now and get excited for season 2 in the works! Catch the OG books here.
  • Firefly Lane. Of course, as I mentioned above, this list wouldn’t be complete without including Firefly Lane. The series is good, but viewers should definitely read the original Kristin Hannah story after (it’s better!). Highly encourage you to check out some of author Kristin Hannah’s other works, too. A personal favorite is Night Road.

Be sure to let me know if you check out any of these shows! And *definitely* let me know if you read the books, too. 😉 May they bring you romance, fantasy, and a sweet escape.

xoxo
